Conductor Christopher Rountree lends his trademark “infectious enthusiasm” to the World Youth Symphony for their third performance of the season. Rountree guides the World Youth Symphony Orchestra through a program that includes selections from Muhly’s So Far So Good, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun.
Christopher Rountree is the founder, conductor and creative director of the Los Angeles-based wild Up chamber orchestra. Rountree’s unique vision is to liberate classical music from classical tradition through deep and engaging relationships between music, musicians and the audience. Gregg Allman is one of the most acclaimed and beloved icons in rock and roll history. As a founding member of the legendary Allman Brothers Band and in his own storied solo career, Allman has long been a gifted natural interpreter of the blues, his soulful and distinctive voice one of the defining sounds in the history of American music.

Who says classical music can’t be cool? Sybarite5 certainly doesn’t. The classically trained string quintet has achieved rock-star status through electrifying performances since their debut at the Aspen Music Festival.
Equally comfortable with classical and contemporary selections, Sybarite5 created the project “Look Back, Move Forward,” inspired J.S. Bach’s solo suites, with a different contemporary composer writing each of the six movements.
Radiohead arrangements, Piazzolla tangos and Dan Visconti’s “Hitchhiker’s Tales” round out a thoroughly modern classical performance.

One of the greatest bands in rock and roll history, Huey Lewis and the News are still going strong 37 years after their founding. Lewis’ rich vocals bring classic hits such as “Heart of Rock and Roll,” “Stuck with You” and “Workin’ for a Living’” to life on stage at Interlochen’s own Kresge Auditorium.
The show also features a blues twist as Lewis takes a turn on harmonica and several acapella arrangements of early-rock standards.
Huey Lewis and The News are truly one of America’s great rock & roll bands. As they enter their 36th year together, their contagious brand of music has outlasted countless trends, and is as fresh today as ever. Formed from two rival Bay Area bands in 1979, they continue to thrill audiences worldwide, selling over 20 million albums in the process, earning them the right to mark their place on the pop history map.
