Founded in 1981 by Senate staffers planning Christmas-party entertainment, the Capitol Steps have been hilariously deconstructing political headlines ever since.

Enjoy a night of bluegrass with one of acoustic music’s brightest up-and-coming musicians. At only 24, Sarah Jarosz is already a Grammy-nominated musician with four solo albums to her credit. Acclaimed for her expressive vocals, insightful lyrics and gifted mandolin and banjo performance, Jarosz charms casual and critical audiences alike with nuanced and tasteful performances.

The World Youth Symphony Orchestra returns to the Kresge stage for a second performance under the direction of JoAnn Falletta. Selections include Enesco’s Rumanian Rhapsody No. 1, Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis, and three excerpts from Die Meistersinger by Wagner.
JoAnn Falletta currently serves as artistic director for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, a position she has held for the past 15 years. Beyond her commitment to the Buffalo Philharmonic, Falletta is in high demand as a guest conductor, appearing at the helm of internationally recognized orchestras such as the London Symphony, China National Symphony and Orchestra National de Lyon. Falletta is also a leading advocate of youth musicians and women conductors.

Experience harmonies fit for a king courtesy of vocal sextet The King’s Singers. Renowned as one of the world’s premier vocal ensembles, The King’s Singers command a diverse repertoire ranging from Renaissance madrigals to pop hits with impeccable quality. Constantly in demand for performances worldwide, The King’s Singers will perform a program of of uniquely American music, focusing on versions of American folk tunes and the amazing songs of The Great American Songbook, at Interlochen’s own Corson Auditorium.
Alongside The King’s Singers’ usual mix of folk songs and contemporary works by some of the choral stars of the United States, such as Eric Whitacre and Morten Lauridsen, will be their takes on the songs of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Harold Arlen and Richard Rogers.
